In the Eye of the Beholder

If you like your art a little offbeat, then Chiottisme, a  free exhibit of 46 photos being exhibited along the boulevard de la Bastille from now until October 20, may be just the thing for you.  The word chiotte roughly translates as toilet although a more accurate translation would probably be crapper or shitter.  (Sorry if you thought this was a G-rated blog.)  And so the subject of the exposition is people around the world interacting with toilets.  To be fair, not all of the people pictured are actually sitting on the pot like the lady above.  And indeed some of the images are quite spectacular in their composition, use of color, [ insert your favorite art critic metaphors here].  Whatever.  As far as I'm concerned a person on a toilet is just that, not a meditation on a wasted life or anything deeper.  Personally, I thought the location, right next to a rank smelling public toilet, was choice.  But hey, don't take my word for it.  If you're in the area, drop by and make your own judgment and then come back here and leave a comment sharing your thoughts.

may I just say that circumstances demanded I use one of those public toilets and it wasn't that bad..as a matter of fact it was alot fresher than the bathroom here at work..and there was paper...the sink was only a dribble but enough to get the job done so people in Paris..don't be afraid...if nature calls and that's all there is ..give it a go!! ha ha
